Anand directed, co-wrote and produced the film. It is a remake of Mohanlal's 1983 blockbuster, "Thrishna" which was directed by Bharathan. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan in the protagonist protagonist role with Nivin Pauly, Padmapriya Janakiraman and Mamta Mohandas in the supporting roles. The shooting of this movie began on 11 January 2016 at Chennai and it will end on 17 April 2016 at Hyderabad. This movie is scheduled for release on 6 July 2016. The film received positive to mixed response from critics.
